Risha, an alumna of the Azim Premji University (2011-13), has been working in the field of education, specifically in teacher education and curriculum development for the last seven years. Her interest and research work lie in exploring, documenting and practicing alternative methods of teaching and learning to enhance children’s critical thinking. Her articles on alternative schools have been published in magazines and newspapers, she has presented a paper on Philosophical Implications in classroom practices: Lessons from Digantar in 7th International CESI(Comparative Education Society of India) Conference. She has undertaken a research with Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, Evaluation of Diploma in Elementary Education Program offered to in-service teachers of Assam, to study the state of in-service teacher education in Assam.

Prior to this, she has worked with Azim Premji Foundation where she was involved in developing curriculum, teaching children and mentoring teachers. She has worked with North East Technical Education Society as a coordinator of a series of “I love my river” workshops for government school children in Assam. Risha has a BA in sociology and PG Diploma in Public relations and corporate communications and has worked in various forms of mass media in different capacities.
