Prior to co-founding Gubbachi Learning Community, Josephdeyone Jacobi was a teacher-facilitator for Mathematics, Science and English at Namma Nalanda Vidyapeeta, a school run by the NGO The Concerned for Working Children, at Kundapura, Karnataka; for children from marginalized communities and migrant families. He also taught basic Carpentry and Art to the school children and his role included anchoring co-teachers’ professional development program, documentation and content development for the school website.
Josephdeyone has helped developed modules for science and mathematics teaching for Agastya International Foundation and also developed and tested a Learning and Teaching Trajectory (LTT) for key mathematical concepts at a government lower primary school in Kerala.
Deyone has a B Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and worked in banking and finance sector for 2 years. He also taught students in informal spaces, who were struggling with Mathematics and Science; and in further pursuance of his interest, did a MA in Education from the Azim Premji University (2011-2013).
He brings to the team his experience of engaging effectively with children within and outside classrooms, forming learning communities for the professional growth and development of co-teachers, his expertise in Maths, Science and English pedagogy and his passion to be an educator who makes learning a pleasant experience for children irrespective of their inborn abilities and background. His other interests include cycling and trekking.
