What are the biggest challenges we face in society? Who is responsible for them? Do we read about them in the headlines every day? Do they concern you - in the midst of your daily routine? Do you think something can be done? Or is it for someone else to bother about? Water and sanitation

Access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation are prerequisites for realising improved human health and welfare. Rapidly changing land use, changes in rainfall patterns, falling ground water levels and increasing demand for water for agricultural, industrial and domestic purposes constitute a challenge for cities in developing countries around the world. Today, people around the world identify water issues as the most serious sustainability challenges facing the planet. This session aims to examine the above issues and some of the coping mechanisms in the Indian context.
