Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is a conservation, environment and development research organisation with a commitment to outreach and education. From this year (2011-12), the TN Khoshoo Ecology and Environment Award for Schools that was organized by ATREE with Wipro and other organisations will be a part of the earthian awards, and will be called the TN Khoshoo-earthian Trophy
The TN Khoshoo-Earthian Trophy will additionally recognize 1 school and 1 college from among the 10 earthian winning submissions which show a higher degree of feasibility, practical implement-ability and contextual understanding.
The Khoshoo school awards are part of a larger, decade-old initiative by the Khoshoo family and ATREE, to recognise and reward practitioners and academicians working in the fields of conservation, environment and development under the umbrella of the T.N. Khoshoo Memorial Awards.
What the recognition will mean to the school?
Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment has the advantage of being able to offer field ecologists, conservationists, social scientists and policy affiliates as a knowledge resource to teachers and students. ATREE will partner the winning institute to build capacities in understanding environment, development and conservation aspects through select contributions to the institute library, lectures and field based programmes. These will be built through an interactive process between ATREE and the school, and tailored to meet the requirements in expanding learning on these topics. The winning school and college participants will also be invited to the TN Khoshoo Memorial Lecture and Awards ceremony.
